Wire and wire-mesh plating
Light technology has undergone great changes in recent years. Energy saving heads the list of priorities. Still applicable for classic special lamps: a mechanically durable and hermetically gas-tight glass-metal-combination requires a precise coordination of the expansion coefficients of the glass and the metal.
Wires made of copper alloys, NiFe alloys, steel, copper clad steel (CCS) and special alloys are serving their purpose here. Nickel as a wire surface suppresses the degassing and a matte and microrough nickel-plated surface additionally improves the adhesion in glass. The nickel coating also improves the corrosion resistance of all wires made of steel, iron and iron alloys.
